About this list

A game of chess in Berlin is played at a club evening, in a tournament hall or at one of the few places that host the clubs. The most familiar of those is the chess café en passant on Schönhauser Allee in Prenzlauer Berg, where SV Berolina Mitte plays on Fridays and SV Berlin-Friedrichstadt on Tuesdays, and where SK International Berlin 2010 has met as well. The tournament server lists Saturday rapid and blitz tournaments at the World Chess Club Berlin up to February 2025.

Most of this list is clubs and tournaments, grouped here by kind; the weekday pages of the clubs show which evening suits. The register entry of the Spandauer SV says guests are welcome on its Tuesday evening. A university and a hospital have chess too: the Schach-AG Charité plays the Charité Cup, the HU Berlin a tournament at the start of each semester, and the Andreas-Gymnasium hosts junior events.
