Youth training, school chess and junior events 35

In Berlin, children and juniors learn chess mostly at the clubs, many of which keep a youth hour before the adult evening; each entry gives its day and time where a page states one. SC Kreuzberg adds a beginners' group on Thursdays, SC Borussia Lichtenberg announced open training for the autumn holidays of 2026, and SV Mattnetz takes children from the age of five.

School chess has its own organiser, Schulschach Berlin, which runs the school championships, among them a school rapid championship at the Max-Planck-Gymnasium in Mitte in January 2026. The Andreas-Gymnasium in Friedrichshain is the hall of many junior events, from the Abrafaxe-Turnier to the youth team championship. Anastasias Matt promotes girls' and women's chess with camps. The youth tournaments are listed here as well, with the age classes their pages print.
