Berlin chess clubs and when they meet 47

Almost all the clubs on this list appear in the register of the Berliner Schachverband, and many field teams in its league, the Berliner Mannschaftsmeisterschaft, whose autumn rounds fill the club news pages. Several carry a year in their name, from BSG 1827 Eckbauer and the Tempelhofer SV Mariendorf 1897 to SK Tempelhof 1931 and SK König Tegel 1949; others are chess sections of sports clubs, such as SG NARVA, SV Empor or BSV 63 Chemie Weißensee.

The clubs play in rooms they share: senior centres in Reinickendorf, Zehlendorf and Lichtenberg, the Haus des Sports in Kreuzberg, the Herder-Gymnasium on Westendallee, the Osloer Fabrik in Wedding, the Rudolf-Wissell-Haus in Mariendorf. SV Berolina Mitte and SV Berlin-Friedrichstadt play at the chess café en passant on Schönhauser Allee. Beyond the city line, Schachclub Oranienburg and the chess section of USV Potsdam are listed as well. Each entry gives the evening and the room where a page names them, and the weekday pages sort the clubs by evening.
