Rated tournaments in and around Berlin 20

A rated tournament feeds the players' ratings: in Germany the national DWZ, and for many opens the international Elo as well. In Berlin the team championship BMM and the federation's individual titles count, and so do the classical opens of the summer: the Werner-Ott-Open of SC Kreuzberg, the Lichtenberger Sommer, the Eckbauer Open and, beyond the city line, the Oranienburger Chess Open, whose 2026 edition was its fifth.

Faster rated games come from the Rapid-Grand-Prix of the Schachfreunde Berlin 1903, with editions in September and October 2026, from the Berlin rapid and blitz championships and from the Berlin U25 Open. Young players have the youth championship BJEM, the Kindersommeropen, the Abrafaxe-Turnier in Friedrichshain and a regional under-8 tournament at SC Kreuzberg; seniors have their open Berlin championship and the cross-district seniors' tournament in Kreuzberg, which reached its thirtieth edition in September 2026.
